Dread Decks, Dear Friends

The Main Film

Dominic came to me with the idea to film a poem to relaunch the Dread Decks website (http://dreaddecks.com), the website was outdated as well as the stock, and he wanted a captivating film to encapsulate his ethos and methodology, along with a Latin inspired guitar piece and skull make-up, because why not? The main film was made with the poem element as well as the guitar, the whole piece was planned around a very carefully orchestrated social media teaser plan.

Teasers Round 2

The second round of teasers were used to tease the main film and its release, there were 3 versions for each depending on which social media channel (Stories, Facebook, Instagram, etc…)

Teasers Round 1

The first round of teasers were used to introduce the guitarist and the dark tonality of the piece, once again 3 versions were used.

Pre-Teasers

This was used to announce that the project had finished and tease the launch of the teasers in the following weeks. This created a lot of attention early on simply because it gave so little away but had such a specific feel and tonality to it.

Dust & Scratches

The processor for this piece was quite complicated, from the stills above you can see how we started from the RAW footage, re-aligned the shot, added the grade layer, comped out the background, added some film FX and then added in the dust and scratches to finish off the piece. With the finished piece you wouldn’t even realise there was an entire studio, lighting and a microphone hidden in the background.
